there’s a saying a girl is a gun, women are a strong  and powerful force in the world and in art they are seen as an object even to prehistoric times, think of the Venus of Willendorf artifact from Austria from 25,000 years ago which symbolizes fertility and abundance. I think on how modern women are portrayed in today’s media and I feel it’s like they’ve taken ownership of their own bodies. This piece challenges the norms and highlights that fact. The simplicity of the drawing highlights the complexity of the ownership theme. She’s proud and confident.
